GO NICK! Imagine, if Nick never spoke out about his type 1 diabeties, that little girl would've died. He's definitly a role model for people with and without diabeties. =]

i'm a huge jobro fan, but a "miracle kid"??? i have diabetes as well and i think its great how he's a spokesman for omnipod (a brand of insulin pump), but diabetes is only as much of a struggle as you make it. if you don't take care of yourself or eat poorly, then it is a miracle to become healthy again- but its your fault if your blood sugar gets screwed up.
Nothing against nick jonas though, i LOVE him. just asking for you quit the whole "poor nick j. having to deal with diabetes" thing. and also, could we plz quit the miley stealing his medical id thing as well??

oh and continued from above-
that mom is pretty dense if it was that hard for her to figure out if her kid had diabetes or not. and btw, she wouldn't have died from it anyways- its pretty easy for doctors to spot that kinda thing if your sent to the er for it

To the comments above..dense?? No not at all. I do want to clarify a few things. When you live with diabetes it is with you everyday---it never goes away and is always on your mind. I have always tested my daughters periodically to make sure their blood sugars are in line. My letter was to address that even though you live with Diabetes (and I do know the symptoms) it can come about very fast. My daughter has always drank alot so again this was not an immediate sign. As far as the weight loss it happened overnight. I would have recognized the symptoms but my point is that Nick Jonas brought it to my attention earlier. I don't know about the heading SAVED because most people get very sick and go to the hospital where they are diagnosed. The likelyhood of a person dying is slim and usually only happens when untreated. The doctors at the hospital said most children come in very sick and we were able to catch it before it got to that point. I also wanted to point out that Nick Jonas is a great role model and hopefully Diabetes will get more attention due to his celebrity status and help others recognize the symptoms.
I would not trade my beautiful daughter for anything in the world!! If well controlled, people can live a long happy life. I should know I have had it over 30 years!! L. Daniel
